Place Your Order
Marcus Williams is averaging about 9 assists in his last
five games as the Nets starting point guard. This will drop off when Devin
Harris is ready to play.
Delonte West started and had 7 pts, 8 reb, and 7 ast.
Right now I feel his fantasy prospects look good in Cleveland.
Randy Foye started his fourth consecutive game for the
Timberwolves. Yesterday he had 20 pts and 3 stls and should provide fantasy
value the rest of the way if he can avoid injury. Marco Jaric is potentially
now out of the rotation.
Mutombo played 23 minutes as a starter and had 4
blocks. His upside right now is to provide blocks in deep leagues as a
center. Carl Landry had 12 pts and 8 reb.
Earl Watson DNP yesterday due to an illness. Luke
Ridnour played 40 min as a starter and had 15 assists.
Brandon Roy will miss at least a couple games with a
sprained ankle giving Travis Outlaw a chance for additional playing time as a
Over his last 12 games Joel Przybilla has averaged 8.5
reb and he had 16 yesterday. He is a good fit for teams who are already
strong in points.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas sat out yesterday with an upper
Yao Ming will miss the rest of the season with a
fracture in his foot. His backup Dikembe Mutombo has played sparingly over
the past 10 games and should not be counted on to step up and have value as
one might expect from a player's backup.
Leading candidates to have increased value with Ming out
are Luis Scola and Carl Landry. Scola had been averaging 6.8 rpg in 26 mpg
as a starter over the Rockets past ten games - all victories. Carl Landry had
been experiencing an expanding role for the Rockets over the past ten games
averaging around 7 pts, 5 reb, and 20 min. Landry had supplanted Chuck Hayes
in the rotation since he was better on the offensive end. He show also see an
increase in minutes although perhaps only slight. Hayes can now be expected
to get some of those lost minutes back in the short term.
The Rockets may decide to at least still try to make the
playoffs and sign a free agent big man such as Jamaal Magloire or PJ Brown.
Those acquisitions would serve to pull back the anticipated increase in
minutes for Scola, Hayes, and Landry.
Other Rocket's will be needed to pick up their scoring.
McGrady in particular may carry a heavier load but this will likely lead to
some type of injury for him. Rafer Alston and Bobby Jackson could also see in
increase in value as a result of scoring more.
In summary, I think the biggest winner from Ming's
injury is Scola and he should be consideration if available in your league -
particularly if you had Ming.
Kurt Thomas was traded to the San Antonio Spurs for
Francisco Elson, Brent Barry and a draft pick. The biggest impact of this
trade will be to reduce the value of Kurt Thomas as he enters into the Spurs
system. It is possible Brent Barry, if healthy, can become a source of threes
for the Sonics.
The Cavaliers sent Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Cedric
Simmons, and Shannon Brown to Chicago for Ben Wallace and forward Joe Smith.
It can be assumed that Ilgauskas will continue to start at center but should
see fewer minutes with both Wallace and Smith on the roster. I would assume
Wallace will get some time at PF with Ilgauskas. The trade will may take
away the fantasy value that Joe Smith has had at times this season unless he
can establish himself as a reliable front court source of offense.
Cleveland also acquired Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte
West from Seattle for Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall. West could see some
playing time as a result of Larry Hughes being traded away and Daniel Gibson
apparently having a potentially severe ankle sprain. I like the upside of
West as a result of this trade. Similarly, with the likes of Ira Newble and
Donyell Marshall gone, Wally will have an opportunity to give the Cavs the
badly needed reliable scoring option they needed.
Although the Bulls acquired Drew Gooden, trading away
Ben Wallace and Joe Smith should give Tyrus Thomas more opportunities.
Yesterday in 24 min he had 10 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast, and 2 stl and lately has
been showing his fantasy potential.
Other Notes from Yesterday:
Travis Diener had 9 ast but was only 1-7 from the
field. Over his last seven games he has averaged 6 apg. Jamaal Tinsley
continues to have issues with his knee.
Mike Dunleavy had an off-night, maybe as a result of
being defended by LeBron James combined with trying to keep up with him,
however note he has not scored more than 13 pts in his last four games.
Only Jamal Crawford played extended minutes in a game
where the Sixers blew out the Knicks after being humiliated by the
Timberwolves. In only 24 minutes Thaddues Young had 20 pts, 8 reb, and 2 stl
adding value to his rising stock.
With TJ Ford promptly back on the shelf with various
injuries, Jose Calderon should resume being a fantasy star. I am in three
Yahoo fantasy leagues (including the HoopsKLYCE subscriber league) and all
the top teams have one thing in common - Jose Calderon. Carlos Delfino also
played a few extra minutes and generated 23 pts, 5 ast, and 5 treys. He is a
versatile player who is a nice fit in deep leagues.
Jamario Moon had 12 reb, his highest total since
As a starter, Marcus Williams exceeded expectations with
25 pts, 3 treys, 2 stl, and 4 ast. There should be a decent sized window for
him to have value before Devin Harris can play.
Andrew Bogut had 14 pts, 14 reb, and 2 bl. This is an
indication that his injured hip has improved.
Jason Kidd had 6 TO and 4 PF in his debut for the Mavs.
Things should improve for him.
Chris Paul had an astonishing fantasy night with 31 pts,
11 ast, 9 stl, 7-7 ft, 2 treys, only 1 to, and only 1 pf. The only thing he
did not do was block a shot.
29 minutes from Shaq did not diminish the value of Amare
Stoudemire but Stoudemire owners may want to brace themselves for lower FG%
numbers if he starts to take more outside shots with Shaq in the paint.
Mike Bibby and Acie Law are each not 100% so Joe Johnson
may be seeing some time at point guard for the Hawks.
In his first game without Mike Bibby, Beno Udrih had 18
pts, 10 ast, and 0 TO. Tyron Lue DNP. Performances like this will go a long
way towards fending off the dreaded time share situation.
With Stephen Jackson day to day with a sprained ankle,
Mickael Pietrus played extended minutes and had 12 pts, 3 stl, and 6 reb.
Hakim Warrick had 20 pts and 7 reb. This is his fourth
straight game playing more than 32 minutes and scoring at least 20 pts.
Larry Hughes has scored in double figures in 8 of his
last 10 games. This is his most consistent production of the season.
Yesterday he had 40 pts and 4 treys.
Jeff McInnis has played over 30 minutes the past couple
games with Gerald Wallace out with an injury. His playing time should go
The Bobcats have once again been starting Nazr Mohammed
along with Emeka Okafor. Yesterday Nazr had 22 pts, 11 reb, and 1 block. It
is possible he could go on a run of productivity as he did when he first
Aided by Tim Thomas being sidelined, Al Thornton has
averaged 15.7 pts and 5.7 reb over his last seven games. However he does not
contribute many steals or blocks. Yesterday he scored 25 pts. He has the
potential to provide a boost for teams in points for the remainder of the
So far in three games Chris Webber has put up small
numbers in limited minutes. I would not bank on them getting much better
although it is possible.
Brandon Roy has not played the past three games because
of a death in the family. Jarrett Jack started tonight and had 15 pts, 10
ast, and 2 stls. This is the third straight game that Jack has started. In
this first of these three, Roy also started at SF. Over his last five games
Jack has been scoring in double figures and providing assists but turnovers
have been an issue for him. It can be expected he will continue to produce
at higher levels than earlier in the season when Roy returns.
Jamaal Tinsley has continued to miss games with knee
issues. His prognosis is not certain. Travis Diener has started the last
seven games and shown the ability to contribute threes and assists. Tonight
he had 15 pts, 9 ast, and 3 treys.
Lou Williams led the Sixers in scoring tonight with 18
points. He is not quite consistent enough yet to be owned in most leagues.
He is averaging 12 pts in five games in Feb.
Corey Magette has been on a hot streak his last five
games and has been making a major impact at the FT line, making 38-40 over
his last four games. An issue with him is the tendency to go in and out of
the lineup making it rough to own him in weekly leagues.
Mike Conley was in the starting lineup for the first
time since Jan 25th. He had 16 pts, 4 ast, 4 reb, and 1 stl in 33 minutes.
Kyle Lowry’s playing time was down to 14 minutes.
Stojakovic has hit an impressive 34 treys over his last
7 games. He is starting to look like he did in his prime years.
Yi Jianlian missed two games due to a shoulder injury
and then came off the bench tonight. Charlie Villanueva started tonight and
had 21 pts, 13 reb, and 2 blocks. Charlie looks as if he may be able to take
control of the PF position over Yi.
Ben Gordon has missed the last three games with a wrist
injury. Thabo Sefolosha has started the last 14 games for the Bulls. He has
been showing fine fantasy potential by being able to contribute in multiple
Jameer Nelson is now back in the Magic rotation as a
starter. He was productive Friday with 17 pts and 9 ast. He looks safe to
get back into lineups.
Gasol looks as if he will maintain most of his fantasy
value with the Lakers. I expect he will be able to improve FG% playing with
Just when you think he is slipping away, Bargnani has
put together a fairly sustained run of productivity. The majority of his
fantasy value has been coming from points and treys.
Erick Dampier is day to day with a sprained ankle. Diop
will get some playing time and provide blocks and rebounds until he returns.
Caron Butler is day to day with a strained hip.
Andray Blatche has emerged the past couple games
providing nice point, rebound, steal, and block numbers.
T.J. Ford returned to action and played 17 minutes (4
pts, 4 ast, 2 st). Jose Calderon started and played 31 minutes which is
below his month of January average of 39 minutes. If TJ Ford can remain
healthy, Calderon’s minutes will likely fall back to the 25-30 minute range.
He will still have fantasy value but not at the star type of levels he had
reached. Before his injury TJ Ford had only been averaging 25 mpg – I would
expect a best case scenario for him would be to gradually reach 24 mpg and
provide around 13 ppg, 6 apg, and 1 spg.
Jameer Nelson has not been playing the past couple days
despite being healthy enough to go. Orlando lost yesterday – a couple more
could get Nelson back into the rotation and reduce the minutes of Carlos
Josh Smith had 19 pts, 6 reb, 9 ast, 9 bl, and 4 stls
showing why he may be the only player in the league capable of a quadruple
Chris Kaman returned to action after missing five games
due to illness and an injured leg.
Over his last three games Dorell Wright has averaged
about 27 minutes. Yesterday he had 17 pts, 8 reb, and 1 bl. He will
continue to be inconsistent but may be able to help some teams in deeper
Rookie Carl Landry has been getting around 21 mpg over
the past three games with Chuck Hayes seeing less playing time. While he
scored 22 pts three games ago, he is best to just continue watching.
Randy Foye’s playing time has been hovering around 20
mpg through his first four games. Sebastian Telfair has been mixing in some
nights with assist production such has his 12 assist game last night.
After a string of three single digit scoring games, Raja
Bell had 7 treys and 24 pts. Before those three games he had eight double
digit scoring games. After going in and out of the lineup he has at least
put together a good streak of games played.
In his 17 games with Utah, Kyle Korver has averaged
1.7 treys per game. He made 6 yesterday in a game where
Kirilenko did not play because of illness.
Marcus Camby has missed his last two games. He had been
due for some DNP’s based on his past history and his good attendance record
so far this season.
